In an exclusive interview with Digiato on the sidelines of the Telecom exhibition, Issa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the 13th government, spoke about the possibility of the Supreme Council for Cyberspace deciding to eliminate filtering in today's meeting and the responsibilities of this decision.

According to Zarepour, filtering and blocking is a tool that is also used in other countries: "In this decision, we must consider the interests of the people, security issues, and domestic platforms. Filtering is not a zero-sum issue. Blocking is a tool. You look at TikTok in the United States. This platform is the most popular social network in the United States, but they have told it that if it does not sell its shares, it will be blocked."

The former Minister of Communications believes that those who decide on the removal of filtering should be held accountable for its possible consequences: “The gentlemen who are responsible and make decisions in the Supreme Council for Cyberspace must decide how they want to implement the rules of cyberspace. They must be accountable for what happens to people. I hope my friends will make the right decision about filtering.”

The Supreme Council for Cyberspace is scheduled to hold a meeting on the removal of filtering today, December 25, and according to Sattar Hashemi, the outcome will be known by the evening.
